Are We Policing Our Own?

Seems that the newspapers were filled with stories today about Michael Phelps being suspended by USA Swimming for three months due to pictures being posted of him smoking pot. Seems that there are some similiar, if not worse, things going on in the tennis world. Are we taking the proper steps to discipline and correct???

MICHAEL PHELPS
Suspended for three months.

ED HOCHULI
NFL referee mysteriously removed from games after blowing a call in game which cost the team the game.
DONALD YOUNG
USTA professional tennis player who refused to stand during the playing of the National Anthem at the Dallas Challenger this week.

Regardless of his ranking or how much money the USTA has spent on him, the young boy should be at least suspended for a period of time for something like this.
PROFESSIONAL TENNIS OFFICIALS
Seems that some of our professional officials were caught altering the badges at the Greece Olympics. What action was taken???
Also comments have been coming in of a specific female official seen frequently sitting in the stands with the parents of one of the players.
The tennis world (and tennis officiating in particular) needs to take a strong stand against these infractions. Be sure to read the previous blog post and comments about what went on at the Dallas Challenger this week.
Something needs to be done and done quickly... We would appreciate your comments about some proper policies and procedures.

Donald Young must be the Obama of tennis.

The official that altered her badge is now chairing matches everywhere--with her perfect hair. She should have been banned.

Everyone knows the chair officials at the Dallas Challenger never call a thing. You think they have finally fixed the table that the player broke last year?

The people at T-M come to see the show and watch the players and chair officials make asses of themselves. Maybe we should call it the "Dallas Ass Open".

I do know that when Myron Krueger and Duane Stewart and myself were at the US Open you couldn't walk by the chair officials' rooms without choking on the marijuana smoke.

Maybe that affects their judgment.

well here in Southern they decided that players can now use racial ephithets and walk off the court in the middle of a match and all you get is a letter of reprimand.
So much for the USTA and their race to diversity. They can not even follow their own rules in order to be PC.

I have news articles from the Greece Olympics and US Open naming the officials that were slapped across their buttocks for unprofessional behaviour. I will find those old articles and post key excerpts under this blog topic. Some may find it interesting that 2 out of the 3 GOLD badges that were KICKED OUT of the Olympics and US OPEN are no longer around.

Doess anybody know the names of the chair umpires for the Dallas Challenger this week and who in the hell hired them?

From the surface, it appears there is a total lack of knowledge and professionalism from whomever is in charge.

Donald Young is a spoiled brat. The USTA has thrown all of this money at him for years and he still hasn't shown he can play tennis with the big boys. If I were black, would I get a big pile of money too even though I was a mediocre player at best? This USTA push in the name of Diversity needs to die a quick death.

so what all happened at the Dallas Challenger, besides the disrespectfulness of the young player? Fill me in please.

Are you saying that a USTA sponsored player is not standing for the Nathional Anthem?? WOW!! I bet he can't wait to play Davis Cup!! ..I wonder what JohnnyMac will have to say about this?

The National Office better get on top of this and real quick. Oh wait! Diversity rules!! They might get sued for questioning this. Nah, No Way!!

I haven't heard what all happened on Friday night but will update as soon as I get some feedback.

I have found over the years that those who holler the loudest about parity, diversity, and equalness are usually those who ignore it the most.

Just take a look at Hussein Obama's administration--that proves the point...

After checking with some fellow officials at a Saturday match, it appears that the actions of this Donald Young kid is not unusual. Evidently he has a reputation as a jerk and all around ass, and for several years now. The USTA has let this problem get way out of control due to lack of prior corrective action on their part. This is what happens when you cater to the Diversity Rules mantra over the Do the Right Thing mantra that the over-all public would absolutely support regardless of who was involved.

What about the news that Flavia Panneta gave the Chair Umpire the bird yesterday in the Fed Cup duel between Italy/France, of course the French wanted her DQ'ed, but what else would you expect.

My sources (friends who were at the tournament) said the line officiating was very weak but not nearly as inconsistent as the chair officials. Seems like they spent so much time overruling that they forgot to the code the broken rackets and swearing by the players.

Hopefully they did manage to stand during the National Anthem.

The infamous Ms. Sue Pranke is in charge of hiring and training the line officials at the Dallas Challenger. So, what does that tell us?

I also talked to a fellow official who was there when Donald Young refused to stand for the National Anthem and he said it was worse than I had even heard. Sure makes us wonder where the money went.

Did Sue Pranke even watch any of the matches? Or did she stay in the office across the street drinking her hot totties? Based on previous experiences, it would be better for her to stay out of the limelight.

Has anyone heard anything yet about the USTA cracking down on their protege, Mr. Young?? I seriously doubt if this kid is gonna just up and turn over a new leaf by this weekend. Where are his parents when all this was coming down?? No doubt they are probably part of the problem too. From what I've heard this player isn't going to be anybody's 'meal ticket.'
I bet we're looking at another 'wild card' entry to the U.S. Open. You know, Diversity and all.

sounds like Young wanted to get a practice match in Dallas so he could prepare for the San Jose tournament, which he choked out again in the 2nd round of Qualifying.

After seeinf DY in Little Rock in 2007, there is way to much maintenance involved with him and his family. Good luck to him, but anyone who turns down a training session with Rafael Nadal, does not need to be supported anymore and his coaches need to be replaced.

Young should have been coded for unsportsman-like conduct.

Even during the "Cold War" days, the Soviet block countries' athletes stood for the American National Anthem as we did for theirs during any international events. That's just proper respect, decorum, and sportsmanship.

Of course B. Hussein O use to stand but turn away until he got close to the Demoncrat nomination for Pres. And "we" elected him.

Fortunately I DID NOT and WILL NEVER vote for Hussein Obama. Just look where it has gotten us thus far. Just wait! I still laugh when I go eat at Jason's and see all those idiots still on welfare wearing their Obama 09 shirts. It just makes me want to puke...
