The official news just came out today that Texas, Tech, Oklahoma, Colordao, and Oklahoma State will be headed to the new Pac 16. Of course there aren't 16 teams yet so that should add a little more drama to the situation.
Just imagine how tough the Pac 16 Conference Tennis Tournament is going to be! This is going to be great for tennis... I'm not too sure about football and I imagine that Texas and Oklahoma might dominate the western boys--especially with the penalties handed out to USC.
Texas A&M is still pondering about whether to go to the SEC or the Pac 16. My only thought is this: "he who hesitates is lost."
Our poor Baylor folks are kind of left out in the cold on this one. I imagine they will end up in either the Mountain West or Conference USA. I doubt seriously that they will go to the Southland Conference or the Sunbelt Conference.
Just wanted to get the news out to you. We'd welcome your thoughts and comments...

Lots of drama to come. Once our Aggies make up their minds (I read they have 72 hours) we'll see how this all shakes out. I hope they stick with the other Texas teams and head for the Pac 16 too...bummer for Baylor though, but maybe something will shake out for them as well! Lots of good tennis to officiate in our future and we'll all enjoy the new and changing conference atmosphere.
I can't imagine anything more fun than joining a tennis conference with the two 2010 national champions. What a great experience this is going to be!
Just talked to one of the officials in California and the individual schools hire their own officials in the Pac 10. I would imagine it will be the same in the Pac 16.
Let's not forget the new conference clothes that we will have to buy as well.
It is my understanding that they wear ITA shirts in California and have for years so our beautiful new ITA shirts that were pioneered in Texas will do just fine...
It is a shame that money, TV share, and TV contracts have trumped the tradition and integrity of college athletics. We are headed for four super conferences and the small fry (defined as not having a huge TV market or following) are going to be relegated to the also ran conferences. I for one enjoyed seeing Boise State knock off an Oklahoma, or Utah put it to Alabama. With the advent of superconferences, those kind of schools will get neither the players, nor the opportunity to compete. I am sure this works well for the UT, UF, UAla, OSU, Okla, USC, Penn State crowds. The rich just keep getting richer....
