Morning Update On ITA Apparel

As of this morning, Bear Cotton will no longer be providing ITA apparel for officials. Their website will be taken down and no orders accepted for any reason.

We are working closely with the ITA to see what can be done and details will be put on the blog as soon as something is finalized.

As for now--we will continue to wear the black ITA apparel in Texas. I assume they will continue to wear the navy blue ITA apparel in California also.

More details please. What happened?

I heard David Benjamin had a breakdown this morning while talking with our shirt provider, threatening them with copyright enfringement. I don't blame Bear Cotton from telling us to take a hike.

How unfortunate. This whole situation dealing with the USTA is spiraling out of control very rapidly. I guess we could always wear plain white t-shirts while officiating. That would really look professional.

What a Cluster &%$#!!

How does this new info tie into what was reported out by Donna today:
....David Benjamin, the head of the ITA is looking into having a National ITA shirt. He understands that some regions/conferences have already decided or are currently working with the officials to have their own shirt. The ITA has not and will not discourage schools from doing this......

Something doesn't compute here. Not Discourage, must have been redefined in the last hour.

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!

Let's have the Home team provide the umpire shirt for the match. They could work-up a nifty shirt in the Home Team Color & Logo. How cool would that be!!

The visitors might not be too happy, but then next week they would have the advantage when they play at home. The umpires would be happier; they would have multiple additions to their wardrobe to wear the rest of the year.

UT OH!!

The ITA world has another calamity coming. Word is Richie just realized that the Wilson Scorecards all have the USTA logo on the card. Sources indicate that word is coming they will not be allowed for use on any non-USTA events and all officials must cease using them immediately on ITA matches. Wilson Corp. could not be reached for comment yet.

What about the "Friend At Court"?
