To Bet Or Not To Bet

Revelations have been coming out this week that IMG executive, Ted Forstmann, had gambled millions of dollars on sports events including the 2007 French Open. Forstmann admitted betting on Federer (who lost to Nadal) , who is represented by an IMG agent. IMG also owns and operates some professional tennis tournaments.

Forstmann did point out that he has not gambled since new laws governing gambling became effective in January, 2009.

If this is all true, there is "something rotten in Denmark"...

Heck we all bet on tennis matches. I even bet on some of the matches where I'm the chair umpire. I don't think I have ever helped the outcome of some of my matches, but I know some of my lines people have. Of course I didn't overrule some of their calls.

Its my understanding that its legal to bet on tennis matches at Wimbledon. Do you think any of the chair officials are actually involved in betting? If so, do you think this might affect their decisions?

I really am going back to officiating bird watching tournaments. SEE YOU GUYS IN THE POKIE!!!

How about those "Perfect Hair" chair umpires who sit in the stands with the mom of one of the players she is about to chair a match for. And then when that player gets upset because they thought they were robbed of a call, they will wait until a critical point in the match and then overrule a "good" line call as payback. And then one day they get bored at the Olympics and decide to tamper with their credentials so they can sneak into other venues free of charge, but get caught and are sent home packing. But alas, because they are the chosen few, get reinstated to their perch to continue their escapades. However, the other officials who don't have the chosen few status, are banned from officating for life.

What a bunch of hypocrites we have. So why should gambling be any different. For those chosen few, I'm sure if they get caught they will be slapped on the wrist and told please don't do it again. Shortly thereafter, back to work they go.

PS: I did notice at one of the last televised matches, time hasn't been too good for old "Perfect Hair." Maybe Jenny Craig should be given a call.

Its hilarious to watch the powers that be trying to train all the puppets to be just like the hair queen. They all go running around the country following the leader and making their $90 a day.

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Since we all know that the young boys climb the ladder quickly when they're "receptive" why not think they also exchange money for favors. The whole upper level of officiating is corrupt.

Most of the leaders at the top are either lesbians or gay so just imagine what goes on in the locker rooms. It has been common knowledge that the top guys are gay and you had to sleep with them if you wanted to move up the ladder on the pro circuit. At least we can say that we are maintaining the diversity standard but the freak of the whole thing has now become the heterosexual.

Why is it that certain sports have an overabundance of gay and lesbian officials? Is it that they wish they could be athletic so they do what they can to get involved or do certain sports truly attract those types of individuals, like Figure Skating, Women's Basketball, and of course Tennis?

$5 on Black.... was I suppose to say that?

This betting may actually be a good idea. We should contact Vegas and set up a bookie who will give odds on which officials screw up line calls the most. Of course, you wouldn't be able to bet against yourself as long as you are working a televised match at one of the Majors, but other than that it would be fun.

Besides, most of us already know which officials really shouldn't be calling lines in the first place. Those will be the ones making most of the money.
