Models of Relaxation

Just taking a cue from these two fine young men as they give us a role model for pure relaxation... Gearing up for 2009 though and it looks like a great year. Here are some things that you will be seeing in the new year:

* A more open and transparent evaluation of our Texas section and its leadership.

* A detailed discusssion and explanation of how things are actually done behind closed doors in our section.

* More great pictures of Texas and Baylor. Very few of Tech though since they ruined the UT season this year.

* More action shots of officials during the ITA season. Its fixing to gear up and looks like a great one!

* Up to date bulletins on the 2009 schools and their dates since noone seems to be able to find the real dates.

* Guest posts by people that I find credible.

* Suggestions welcomed about how to make our Texas Section more believable and useful.

These are just a few things you can look forward to in the new year. I think we'll all have a great time.

Does anybody have any idea if the 2009 school schedule is correct on the USTA Texas web page? Is there anyone in authority who can answer this question? I have recently spoken with 2 of the local coordinators and they are still not sure if their published dates are correct!

The only person who would know for sure is Bruce Sampley and good luck getting him to answer an email.

I do know that the instructors are meeting in Dallas this weekend to be trained--maybe after that the website will be correct. I have heard from numerous coordinators and they have no idea when the correct dates might be.

Kind of sad... Especially since the original dates were authorized and finalized by our Sectional Chairman back in September to allow plenty of time for the coordinators to make their arrangements.

In a recent blog, the following entry was noted:

"The USTA national office as well as much of our leadership in Texas sent word that they are reading our blog . . ."

USTA National Office: please take note of how disorganized things are in Texas. Do you care? There are a huge number of officials effected by this. Do you care? Questions abound about the leadership in Texas Do you care?

Or are you just checking on the age, sex, race and sexual preference of umpires hired to work our tournaments? Guess what? If the school schedule is messed up, there won't be as many 65 year old bi-sexual Oriental women certified to work your tournaments!

There will be posts coming soon on the disarray in Texas.

I can't wait for your new blog topics on the disarray within Texas officiating. I have been a constant reader of your blog for over two years now. I have finally reached the boiling point and must start commenting. I have witnessed much of what you are alluding to from my experiences traveling across Texas. I would be more than happy to be a guest blogger if you so choose. I like taking photos and videos from tournaments and have great examples where I thought a player was committing a codeable offense only to be ignored by the official on court. Do you have the ability to post video clips to your blog? If so, I'm sure some of my footage would be welcomed.

Long Wang,

I'd be more than happy to post some of your videos if they are good quality and won't get us in trouble...

Email me at rmtennis@yahoo.com and we'll go from there. I can keep your name confidential if you would like.

Randy - on those videos, make sure the officials cannot be identified or you'll have another grievance on your hands. Oh wait - do you still have the forms pre-printed with your name on them?

I would love to see those videos!!

As a matter of fact, I do have those preprinted grievance forms with my name, address, and blood type listed. All you have to do is fill in the blank for what I have done to offend you.

Also, to further ease your pain, I think they keep some of the same forms in the section office so you don't have to bother with mailing them in.

Of course, I won't be permitted to see any of them...

I will post my videos to youtube so all can see. That way, you cannot get into trouble. I have to cut out the boring parts so they won't be too large.

Long,

Please send me your site so I can post it on here. It should prove interesting. You can also email it to me if you would rather at rmtennis@yahoo.com

Do we know anything new about the school dates for January as a result of the instructors' meeting yesterday?

RM said...

As of today (January 4) I do not know anything new. I will try to find out something tomorrow and post the revised schedule as soon as I can get it.

Hope this helps... Its not much but I'll do the best I can.
