Getting Put In The Proverbial Dog House

For those of you who have a tendency to get put into the doghouse for things you have thought and done--here is a great pearl of wisdom from our own Ginny James down in Houston:

I'll leave all the special thoughts up your own imaginations...

I know of a couple of Floridian officials that should be in the dog house. I will never speak ill of any Texas official ever again after witnessing what happened at a major junior international tournament in Florida the past week.

1) Official "A" observes a ball roll onto the back of the court from an adjacent court and instructs the player to retrieve the ball. While the player is getting the ball, the official yells out "TIME" to inform the player she is now on the clock. What an idiot.

2) Official "B" overrules a serve called out to in and orders the point be replayed. This official must be the cousin of the idiot above.

3) Official "C" warns Player "A" to call the score out before the start of each point. Player "A" doesn't comply after repeated directions by the official to do so. Official "C" then codes Player "B" (yes, Player's "A" opponent) for not taking the inititate and calling the score out for Player "A". This official must be the father of both idiot officials above.

My main question is this - Why can't Florida get qualified competent officials to work major international events? Do they realize what image they are portraying to the rest of the world by using incompetent officials.

BTW - Who is the Chairman of Officials for Florida? Do they have the same leadership problems that we have here in the great state of Texas?

I heard your glorious Chair of Texas Officials has been doing double duty working in Florida as well.

You might want to look at the Chief Umpire who is responsible for hiring these knuckleheads. Who might that person be??

Hey, it's just a job. And it's just Juniors, so what's the big deal??

Chief Umpire? This ain't no pro tournament. Try referee!!!!

The more I'm thinking about responding to your post, the madder I get. Why in the hell would you mention the word Chief Umpire. Those DO NOT exist in junior tournaments. Using the word Chief Umpire reminds me of a fish story (see blog...)
