Today's Interesting Announcement: What Does It Really Mean?

Skip Gilbert of the USTA came out with an interesting announcement (printed below).  Kind of brings up more questions than answers...  What are your thoughts?

ITA Certification
USTA Officiating Department is in the process of creating a new curriculum structure along with newly defined certification levels and evaluation processes to better support and develop all officiating disciplines (Chair, Line, Referee, Rover, Umpire, etc.).  Due to the differences between USTA/ITF sanctioned events and ITA Rules and Regulations, the ITA and the USTA have decided to take a close look at how the relationship between our organizations will operate in the future.
Please note: Anyone interested in working ITA events in 2016 needs to re-certify in 2015.  Please contact your district or section chair of officials for any schools that may be remaining in your area.  In addition, for anyone who was not able to attend an in-person school,  the details of a webinar school are posted on the NUCULA event listing. If your section has approved the webinar for certification, you may make yourself available(please see note in the event listing).

I say TO HELL with the USTA and their crony "professional" officials, and I use that term very loosely, like what you get with the LGBT movement. It's time the ITA distances themselves from the USTA Officials - case in point - look how bad the officials used at the Men's NCAA Nationals were. All, if not most of them, come from the pro ranks based on how often they stuck their little index fingers up on close calls.

Don't be surprised if in fact the USTA suits want to move their boys into the the ITA ranks to take over the solo chair positions. You can see this coming with all the (secret result) polls and special committee groups they have.

Chinkaneesy....your wrong....yes some of them at the NCAA's are pro-chairs; however; most of them are not....and two of them are regarded as some of the very best college umpires in the States....once again Texas/Big conference officials anger at their inability to cut it at the pro level are lashing out in blind, ignorant, and overblown anger....you are laughable

And pray tell, how do you know that Chinkaneesy is from Texas? The ones I saw at the NCAA's who were "quick with the finger" were not from Texas or Oklahoma.

The USTA will weed out all non-badged officials from working any chairs, at every level of event - mark my words!

The USTA has this idea only badged officials are qualified to chair tennis matches. They should really look at some of their "badged" officials and actually conduct evaluations. Based on what I've seen at recent ITF Futures events, and even Challengers, some (granted not all) "badged" officials were horrendous. Very interesting that the tour supervisors keep standing up for them. What that tells me is that they are the problem too (which is most likely the case), or they are the recipients of some kind of extra-curricular activity from those "badged" officials in their private rooms.

Speaking of pro-officials, did anyone else notice the center-line foot-faults during the pro series event in Washington, D.C. last week. Almost everytime Jack Sock served from the deuce side, he center-line foot-faulted with his back foot (right). They were using a chair +7 crew. So a line official was in direct observance of all of these foot-faults. What's up with that? And what was the chair watching.

I guess one consolation though; it was only a little bit foot-fault!!
