A bunch of us were there today and it was an awesome college tennis match. The officiating was excellent and the players all played their hearts out. A refreshing and welcome change.

Was there an uncertified official wearing a Big 12 shirt sitting in the stands?

Yes there was but he was wearing a blue Big 12 shirt instead of the gray one. At least he didn't have to sneak in at A&M since its his hometown.

Who the heck was the referee for that match? He or she put the College Station diva on the #1 doubles and the #1 singles match. Anyone with any experience knows that isn't done and it sure isn't done when it comes to the over inflated ego of the diva. Maybe he or she needs some additional referee training.

Rumor has it that the diva isn't working but one day of the Big 12 tournament. What a relief for anyone coming to the tournament to watch.

Standard procedure for a referee is to assign officials to a singles court for a player that they DID NOT do in doubles. Guess that rule doesn't hold true in College Station.

The A&M and Texas fans were great at the match. No problems with the crowd at all and the players all played their hearts out.

That's what college tennis is all about.

Just speculating on the seeds at the men's Big 12 tournament.

#1 Baylor
#2 A&M
#3 Texas
#4 Oklahoma

On the women's side there's really only one team--Baylor.

Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma all finished at 3-3. If they seed like football, then the seeds will fall by rankings. Which will be UT @ 3...TT @ 4...OU @5.

Why is it Sara Lammerts always does the #1 doubles and #1 singles matches at A&M? That is just so wrong on so many fronts. There are so many other officials better suited to chair the big matches. One of her major problems is nobody in the stands can hear her high pitched squeaky voice.

The mighty 'horns downward spiral is picking up more momentum each and every day. They looked lethargic in doubles and like deer in headlights in most of the singles matches. Surprisingly Mr. Damico was on his best behavior. I felt sorry for Ed Corrie. He couldn't find the broad side of a barn with his shots in the first set but tried valantly to change things around in the second set. It was hilarious watching his reactions to his poor shots throughout the match. Definitely highlight reel material.

Players and coaches from both teams acted very respectful to each other throughout the match. Too bad the same can't be said for the Baylor players and coaches. It's interesting how the "Christian" schools have the worst acting players and coaches. Is it because they think they think they are devine and can ask for forgiveness at church on Sunday morning, or is "Christian" a misnomer for Baylor?

I have been to softball games between Baptist churches and there seems to always be fights before the game is over. Is it a Baptist thing?

RM said...

Its primarily a Baptist thing but from time to time there are Pentecostals and a few Methodists who enter into the fray.

I predict Texas A&M will take it to Baylor and dethrone them from the Big 12 on Sunday.

how can TU be ahead of OU when OU beat TU when they played earlier. I say 1.Baylor, 2 TAMU, 3 OU, 4 TU. that would put Baylor and TX in Semis and TAMU and OU in Semis
Should be a fun weekend

The seeds for the Big 12 tournament have been announced:

1. Baylor
2. A&M
3. Texas
4. Tech
5. OU

There was a 3 way tie with Texas, Tech, and OU. Texas won the first tiebreak which is total of doubles and singles wins. Tech then won the tiebreak with OU by virtue of their win over OU.

Hope this helps explain the confusion.

Looks like Wally had it correct anyway. It doesn't matter the order of 4 / 5. They would play each other regardless. UT at #3 gets to play Nebraska again. I predict TT / OU will be another 4-3 match. A you Pick'em match.
