Big Announcement Coming Wednesday

Stay Tuned For Wednesday's Big Announcement

Sometimes I like to tantalize your taste buds a bit by telling you something in advance--so here goes...

There will be a major announcement by the NCAA this Wednesday that specifically concerns collegiate tennis. It will be a blockbuster--but that's all I can publicly announce right now.

Be sure to stay tuned--and especially on Wednesday...

They are going to "limit" the number of foreign players allowed on each collegiate team. 2-foreigners per team. yeah, that's the ticket.

My vision: Sara Lammerts is taking David Benjamin's position and Mike Standrod has taken over the Women's NCAA from Jane Goodman.

That announcement will result in a plethora of ITA shirts being sold on eBay by the disguntled ITA tennis officials opting out for greener pastures.

ITA and USTA have kissed and made up. ITUSTA officials now have to buy new shirts that look amazingly like the USTA uniform shirt.Mitch K chanbges his mind again and decides to attend UT on a tennis scholarship. Expected to play #6. Myron K falls off his bicycle, again. C Jones appointed as new Czarina of ITA Officials. American Airlines emerges from bankruptcy on the news expecting huge increases in cross-country travel. Change occurs in college station, more news to come. Baylor tennis fans revolt and demand Chuck Scott wears a shirt that covers his beer belly. Texas A&M fans approved for open carry, no CHL required. Collegiate coaches now required to be polite and courteous to officials. ITA officials now required to be fluent in five or more languages.

1. Men's tennis will get rid of the no-let rule.
2. Officials can wear one shirt for all collegiate matches, and black shorts.
3. Shot-Spot will now be used on every court.
4. Pro officials will be trained and certified on how to use the score input devices that ITF officials use.

Can't say exactly what it is but I assure you it has nothing to do with our beautiful black shirts and jackets that we wear in Texas and Oklahoma.

To make the matches more manageable and time constrained, the ITA will institute a maximum time limit per match. After 45 minutes into the doubles, a buzzer will sound indicating the match is over. Whichever doubles team is leading at the time gets the victory. The same goes for singles. After 1 hr 15 min, the same buzzer will again sound, indicating match termination.

If the score is tied, then the players will be called to the net. The umpire will conduct a coin toss to the visiting team to serve, receive, or defer. A single point will be played to determine the winner.

Wow that will make for some very interesting matches. One team will be stalling and the other hurrying to play the next point. Just think about the dynamics!

College Women will now play on an equal footing as the men:

1. play no-let serves.
2. no authorized toilet break....(just take a cup to the court).
