- ALL Officials need to take the BGC in 2012 to certify for 2013.
- BGC will happen again in 2014 (even years) so that all officials are certified for the following odd year.
- if a provisional tested in 2011 they will need to go through a BGC in 2012 in order to get on track.
- all prospects need to go through a BGC to be certified regardless of year.
- all Officials must complete the BGC by November 1st
The background checks take less than 3 minutes and are free to USTA members. To begin the process, simply click on "background check" on the top right of the blog.

So I just tried to do that and got this message...
"The SSN entered has an active background investigation available for the account you are registering for. Another one cannot be created at this time."
It seems that when you try to do a background check you get a whole variety of answers. I would give it a little time for them to get things in working order and sort out their own statements.
Obviously, they do not have their house in order.
Just heard from someone who found the key...
Call NYC and talk to someone and they will "remove the gate" and then you can complete the form.

Julio's wife just had a little bambino so he's had more important things on his mind.
NYC told me those that have failed their updated background check had their gate automatically closed so they couldn't attempt to resubmit their paperwork.
Looks like our numbers are dwindling.
