Now Texas plays Ohio State at 3:30 Pacific Time; I'm anxious to see how Texas fares against Ohio State, especially after the Aglets fell to them yesterday.
(signature below) RE:overules @ Women's National indoors First let's establish that all Virginia supporters thought the ball was "WAY"in and all Baylor supporters thought "WAY"out now some facts and comments: The ball hit on the near side beween the net and service line. Many chair umpires believe this may be the touhgest ball to see of all. So I hope the umpire was very sure, also keep in mind that with very few exceptions this is a crew of umpires who work almost no ITA matches except the National events with Jane so they can qualify to work NCAA's Having attended National indoors many times I can assure the combined number of overules far exceeds anything you will see from the officiating teams I work with. I have seen this aggressive chair work many times in the past and although it is often claimed there are Regional or pro American bias I have not witnessed this. Just very aggressive overuling Since in this case you had very experienced players on elite teams,I'm pretty sure we can assume they knew what was at stake. So in or out,Baylor or Texas, Sisters of the Poor, etc is not the question. A better one would be for those of you who have a lot of chair experience working national events or top 16 teams to answer these two questions; How many times in a match with this level players have you ever made 4 overules? How often have you seen done by qualified officials? (full disclosure:I once made 4 overules in a Dbls match. Of course it was the 1st big match I had ever done and my 1st year as a chair umpire. The abuse and ridicule only lasted about 5 yrs) and no one would have considered putting me on a National Champ event. It's just a really sad case of the system inposing itself on a match. This was a very hard fought match where Baylor had to come back from a big hole in the 1st set and then Virginia was dowm 1-5 in the 2nd and came back. In the breaker Virgina jumped out then Baylor came back to 6-3 and then lost both match points w/Virginia @ 5-6 the Baylor player called the ball out and thought she had won the match then came the overule and the score went to 8-6 If she had not made the out call it would have been on serve @ 6-6.So in or out she had to be pretty sure because obviously the Virginia player was going to question everything when it meant the match We will never know if the best player won or if that one shot was in or out but we now all to live with this standard of chair involvment at a National event It's an awful way for a match to end SIGNED Haymuncher
Isn't Baylor supposed to be a church school? They must really be embarassed by having such a group of cheats. But then again they are Baptists and can beg for and recieve forgiveness on Sunday.
SIGNED BELOW I continue to be impressed by the (always) anonymus comments directed at one school or another. I think it is very poor for an official to show such strong bias against any one school.Favoritism in context is a reality, which good officials deal with constantly negative bias, especially from the closet, does not seem to be quite right To this stealth warrior(who probably has not acheived the recognition he/she thinks they deserve)a message; Can you print the expression sin cajones? or sin juevos? I will accept the code violation as required HAYMUNCHER

A 4th over rule cost BU the match

It certainly amazes me fast people point fingers and judge. Try judging yourself first.
