New Guidelines For Our Tennis Officials Blog

Due to some changes in policy in the Big 12 Conference there will no longer be any blog posts that contain anything about any Big 12 team in any sport.

We will however continue to post about issues that affect officials and any other collegiate team other than a Big 12 team.  There will also be no comments published that pertain to any Big 12 team in any form or fashion.

Thanks for your understanding.

This is about the most curious posting I've read to date in the blog. Just out of curiosity, what were the changes in policy? Maybe I'm not up to date on the law, but are blogs not protected freedom of speech? Or, did the conference just determine that people it employs (tennis officials as a group)shouldn't have any comment about the inner workings of the matches? Will the conference then go after newspapers? And what would happen if someone was to post something on a "Red Team" or "Orange" team, or dare we say it a "Green" team?
Curious in Texas

interesting I am hearing SEC is going to have something similar, guess independent contractor does not mean independent anymore.

Word is that N. Carolina (ACC) has contacted the Big 12 about the UNC vs. UT match last spring. Wonder Why that is?

May the UT name be mentioned on the blog, or are you referring to that other UT out east?

Much to my personal chagrin, the glorious University of Texas in Austin can no longer be mentioned on this blog. In the future, UT will refer to the University of Tennessee and we will be much more open to publishing interesting facts and stories from the SEC in the days to come.

Can the word Canadian used as a synonym for that school on the brazos?

Is the reason for the deletion of all things Large Dozen one that may be discussed (in another venue of course) or have those of the legal persuasion oozed in to effectively muzzle the discussion completely?

RM said...

Alas, they have effectively muzzled the discussion if it is specifically Big 12. Other than that, we are free to go.

Look out pro umpires!, your gonna get lambasted by Randy and his cronies....now that they can no longer crab about the Big 12 and how great they are compared to every other College umpire...or all other umpires for that matter.....

....wait only a few of them come here, and it's always to have a good laugh at the opinions expressed....oh see you out there....or maybe not

The pro umpires I have seen don't need to be lambasted. Their work speaks for itself...

Everyone with a brain knows that the best collegiate umpires live in Texas and they do a whole lot more than 10 + 2 matches. But then, I doubt if anonymous 3:54 is a pro umpire or even a good collegiate umpire. Just someone sitting on the sidelines and not even willing to sign their name to what they write.

Its always fun getting comments from disgruntled and frustrated pro officials. Sorry but your last piece of griping will never see the light of day on this blog. Sounds to me like you flunked out of being a collegiate official.
