For all ITA officials other than those live and work in Texas, the new Honig's ITA shirt is now available. Cost is $36.95 plus shipping so it should run about $43 per shirt. You can order these shirts by clicking on ITA apparel on the top right side of the blog. They are available in navy and white.
For those who live and work in Texas--we have stockpiled some black ITA equipment for your convenience. If you would like to order some of these, check out the blog post below.

I think it's funny. All those non-Texas officials complaining about the cost of the black ITA shirt. Knowing what I do on how much the new Honigs ITA shirts cost, someone is making over $10 per shirt.
So to all those complainers out there - hope you enjoy your new shirts as you are getting screwed by the ITA.
Can't wait to see how crappy the caps are. I'm sure they are copy cats of the USTA cap which I threw in the trash.
I've spent the last 2.5 years listening to ITA officials complain about spending $23 on a shirt. I just wish I could be around when they see what they will be paying now. It should make one very glad they live in Texas...
Yep that David Benjamin is a real deal maker. If he would have just accepted a flat $5 licensing fee on top of the Bear Cotton product that would have put the adjusted price at $28 for each ITA shirt.....which would have been a whopping 21.7% override.
Now lets' suppose he keeps that 21.7% override on the Honig product @ $36.95. Well, he now gets a $6.59 override and the net to the vendor is now $30.36. So now the new vendor, Honig is making $7.36 more per shirt than Bear Cotton; the ITA is making a larger override amd all the ITA officials are of course now paying more for this privilege of being suckers.
The real unanswered question here is how much of the $7.36 extra profit for Honig is going to be the kickback to the folks who made this decision??
I'll wager a dollar to a donut that these new shirts will be an inferior product to what the Texas vendor had for us.
Navy & white; now that's a novel color selection. Those were probably the colors that could be used to try and meet the mid-March deadline for ordering. When will the caps be ready? And what color?
Randy, I don't think they were actually complaining about the $23 shirt as much as they were complaining about having to buy another $23 shirt 9 months after they purchased the first one.
Remember the Ad Hoc committee that changed the color from green to black??
so when exactly will ITA force us pleabians to wear these expensive polo's? As an ITA official it would be nice to hear about these changes first hand rather than second hand off someone's personal blog.
OMG!! The ole Ad Hoc committee. Don't we remember it well.
I agree with Wally on the complaining about the ita shirts. The dictate to get a 2nd color before the first year was up was the big beef with officials.
First of all, the "ad hoc committee" that changed the shirts from green to black was composed of the ITA coordinators from around the state--minus one. We changed because so many officials were wanting the black shirts instead of the green.
Second, the original choice was red but a certain official in College Station caused such a fuss and complained to our Sectional Chairman so much that he said we would have to use another color. He was in the meeting when we went with green but then that same CS official banned the green in College Station because she said they were "Baylor colors."
Third, I'm glad you can find out the information on my "personal blog" since you will never receive an email from the ITA about the shirts. They don't even have a mailing list that they use for such a notice. Just be glad we are keeping you informed.
No one complains about the Black ITA shirt - they are nice. The complaint is that we have to buy a shirt to take a pee... A shirt for USTA, UIL, ITA, Private schools, and anything else we officiate... that is problem!
Too bad there wasn't some nice generic shirt that did not represent anyone or anything - EXCEPT TENNIS OFFICIALS!!!!
BACO
If you want we could take a vote and come up with a new shirt for you to pee in...
Its only three shirts for three separate entities. That's not much when you consider what a softball and baseball referee has to buy.
Just think of how bad it is going to be for those who don't live in Texas. $43 for a USTA shirt, $43 for an ITA shirt, and God knows how much for a high school shirt wherever they live.
