DIEGO BENITEZ: A Coach Who Knows How To Win And Relax

Diego Benitez, head coach at UTA, is one of the most successful and popular ITA coaches in Texas. I went by the UTA courts today and caught Diego in one of his lighter moments as he was moving from court to court--on his skateboard!

Sometimes we aren't privileged to see coaches as they relax but Diego is from Venezuela and they know how to do it down there!

Coaches sometimes have to be able to do everything as evidenced by Diego's changing a tire on a recent tennis trip.

Congratulations to Diego Benitez for showing all of us officials that coaches are human too...

Diego is quite a pleasant and cheerful fellow and very proud of his team and their accomplishments. I've had the pleasure of officiating his team twice this year and both times his players showed a high level of respect for officials.

Maybe uta will catch up with the rest of the world and pay the officials as good as they do at smu!!!

It is good to see positive coaches like the staff at UTA - they are respectful and it shows with their players!!!!

Bty - it's also nice to read about something than other a shirt your selling or an official you love to hate!

FYI, UTA pays the same as SMU and UNT and TCU.

Sorry you don't like the shirt deals but if you are so offended by them don't read the blog and enjoy buying your stuff at Honig's. These are merely offered as a convenience for our ITA and UIL officials in Texas. The USTA and ITA sure don't seem to be watching out for us.

Coach Benitez, congratulations on your new board. Do not forget the helmet and padding. Some people talk of previous accidents while riding along your side.
