A Monday Morning Surprise!

Wow! I woke up early this morning and much to my surprise--I had a Texas Section Officials Newsletter in my mailbox.

I thought the newsletter was very well done and covered most of the things that are important to all of us. I'm glad we have made progress on adding additional schools and training--and our committee is to be commended for taking these positive steps.

Still no remedy for the tournament directors/referee workshop that is required in Austin but maybe we'll see something done about that before the year 2015...

Also, no steps taken to rid us of the infamous Secret Ad Hoc Committee meetings held before each official Texas Section Officials Committee Meeting. Maybe if the committee members can ever get a straight answer about the secretive committee they will see that it stops--as it should.

Once again, good newsletter and very well done!!

Whoopeee, another reminder to send in our cards and make sure eyes been examined.
Allow me to make a suggestion....how about every Texas official who receives a copy of the newsletter reply to our Section head asking him to provide transparency on the "secret ad-hoc committee" that seems to be running the officials show in the section? Wouldn't you like to know what goes on in those seceret meetings? Maybe if he gets enough requests for information he'll do the right thing and provide some.

When there is an organization such as the Texas Section, the law states that minutes of committee meetings must be published.

Perhaps I should request the minutes of the last Ad Hoc Committee meeting and then publish them on the blog.

Please do make the request. And ask for all of the minutes from all of the secret meetings. And ask the section if there are other secret committees at work within the transparent Texas section.

I'll work on requesting the minutes. I know there were no minutes taken in the Ad Hoc Committee meetings while Bruce Sampley has been chairman. They were taken during Cheryl Jones' tenure but I doubt if they can be found.

You boys in Texas need to give it a rest. There are more important fish to fry that this. You are worrying about a pimple on someone's butt.

Eeyore,

O wise one, it has been a long time since you graced us with your presence. And pray tell, what might those bigger fish be? We would welcome your wisdom.

You can be sure Sampley didn't write that newsletter. He's not that creative.

You boys still have some maverick officials in Texas you should be focusing on. No further comment needed if you are in the know (which I hope you are).

Now all that Sampley needs to do is add a section on the newsletter where he posts the minutes of the Ad Hoc Committee that meets at his house. His readers would find that enjoyable reading.
