This is the time of year when all officials associations (and individual officials in the smaller areas) are looking at budgets and rates for 2010. There is a fairly wide range of rates in Texas so we will publish those we have and invite others to chime in...
Austin Rates
USTA Events: Referee: $15/hour Umpires: $12.50/hour w/4 hour minimum
ITA: $135/match with $50 for officials traveling over 50 miles.
Dallas-Ft. Worth Rates
(Metroplex Tennis Officials Association)
USTA Events: Referee: $17.50/hour with 8 hour minimum and meals provided.
Umpire: $15/hour with 6 hour minimum and meals provided.
(rates remain the same for any time over the minimum)
ITA Dual Matches: TCU: $115 per official
SMU, UNT, UTA, and UTD: Referee: $140 Umpires: $125
UIL Dual Matches: $160
Houston

USTA Events: Referee: $16.25/hour
Chief of Officials: $15/hour
Roving umpires: $13.75/hour

Waco Rates
Regular Dual Match -All officiating team members including Referee $125

Double Header Duals (same day)-All officiating Team members including Referee $200
Travel allowance(s) from $25-50 as determined by location for officials outside 50 miles
Meals provided for evening matches and double headers
Hotel may be provided when requested and approved in advance on certain matches
Cheerful disposition of coordinator provided at no charge for all matches

Looks like you are about to price yourself out of business. You better do a better job getting rid of incompetent officials if you are indeed paying these rates.
OU & OSU non-conference Dual Match rates:
referee: $130.
officials: $110.
travel: .90 x one-way mileage (minus 10 miles).
To Anonymous above: the DFW rate of $15/hr is completely justified since they do not pay mileage. If you live in Plano and work a tournament near TCU, you spend a great deal of time and money getting there and back. The additional $2.50/hr. times a 6 hour shift equals $15. Seems reasonable to me. Houston is a huge geographical area as well. Their rate of $13.75 (an extra $1.25/hr.) also seems reasonable for the same reason.
As for the additional comments about getting rid of incompetent officials . . . . every geographical area in Texas needs to be doing this regardless of how much officials are paid. Your comment suggests that incompetence is OK at $12.50/hr - but I'm sure that's not what you meant.
Well, so much for the MTOA and meals being provided to officials. The Cotton Bowl Tournament begins this weekend and no meals are being provided for the officials. What gives?
