A Great Blog About ITA Tennis--Be Sure To Check It Out!

Everyone is excited about collegiate tennis this year--and rightfully so!  Our blog deals primarily with issues that concern tennis officials in general and not ITA tennis.

Here is a great blog (be sure to check it out):

Be sure to read down and check out their account of the Baylor vs OU men's match on Friday night--and check out the comments.  Puts a whole new light on things that happen in the collegiate world.

Wouldn't it be great if more of the good officials boycott Baylor Men's matches? But then Baylor would be able to role over their regular officials on their normal basis. I'm really surprised the better teams don't tell Baylor to stick it up their ass and not play them any more. Maybe then they would clean up their program and start acting like champions instead of spoiled brats.

Check out the review on the MVC finals and opinions on what happened, of course it is from a fan perspective but the blog author knows his stuff.

Thanks for the mention about my College Tennis Blog - I've got a question for you about chair umpires. I was at the Drake/Wichita St match on Sunday for the Missouri Valley Championship and due to a venue change from an outdoor facility to an indoor facility the chair umpires didn't have an actual chair to sit in so they were doing their jobs standing by the net post. Is this common at the lower levels?

I'll admit most of the matches I've been too have been higher end D1 matches and I've never seen the chair umpire standing instead of sitting. In this instance there were some key line calls late in the match where the chair wasn't going to overrule because of the lack of a good angle.

Its common at just about any university where they don't have chairs on the indoor courts. It does make our job a lot more difficult to say the least. Maybe in time they will all have enough chairs.

Keep up the good work with your blog. We all really enjoy it.
