"We're working on it!"
Seems to be the by-line coming out of the USTA on the issue of the criminal background checks. Since they obviously didn't do all their homework, they are now left with fixing a bunch of different (and valid) issues. Here are a few of those:
Some officials just say, "hell no" and walk away, never to be seen or heard from again. Obviously, this isn't something we needed or wanted.
Some officials just get so frustrated they start pulling out what's left of their hair. Again, not a good option out here in officials' land.
Some of our more pious officials love to strut their stuff and proclaim their purity and innocence on all things pertaining to life itself.
What do we do with those found guilty of something in the background checks? What are valid reasons for non-certification?
Thumbs up to the USTA for taking action to remove pedophiles from our midst and to not allow them to officiate any longer.
The thumbs up are relatively short lived as officials all over the country are encountering delays in certification, questionable practices by the accrediting agency, delays in notification from the USTA, and a host of other things.
COMING TOMORROW
Tomorrow's post will deal with the USTA relationship to the ITA in all of this conglomeration of facts, inuendos, and junk.
Be sure to stay tuned!
