If you are currently certified as a USTA official then you have either gone through or will go through the certification process in the coming year. I can tell you without reservation that this has been the most frustrating and infuriating process I have ever endured in my entire life...
You never know for sure if you are actually certified or which videos you have or haven't watched and if you have done everything that is required of a supernatural human.
So, what do we do? I thought this would be a good place to share your thoughts on the subject. Feel free to comment and we will go from there...

USTA should be more like ITA in its certification process. Especially for Officials that have more than 5 years of experience. Doing the safe play process every year is ridiculous. Maybe once every 3-5 years. And I don’t mind doing the tennis knowledge courses but why do we have to do general knowledge courses? We would have more officials if the process wasn’t so tedious. Thanks , Allen
ReplyDeleteAlright Randy, I'll jump. It has WAY too many disconnected pieces. Lets see Zebraweb interface is VERY difficult to meander (really ""Zebra Secretary Console"?....so beautifully descriptive to immediately let you know that is were you need to go to so you can then find the next click you need to make with the other absolutely beautifully descriptive "administration"....just so user friendly!!! (I am being extremely sarcastic) Seriously, looks like it was created/developed in 2003 and never updated. Moving to USTA....geez, would it be too difficult to take the cornerstone created training site and the OfficialsFirst site and just make ONE site where we can see the training records and our officiating profile? Surely, some marketing intern for USTA with any web development skills can make a website where these are combined and it would be better than what is there now. You asked for comments on why it is hard to get anyone...I gave my opinion on why several folks I have tried to recruit, have given up... the websites are a complete nightmare for any newby trying to figure it out.
