Draw whatever conclusions you need to draw but its sure a lot cheaper to play tennis in West Texas...
With a $40.28 entry fee the Cotton Bowl can sure as heck pay for the officials lunches.
ReplyDeleteSo if the Cotton Bowl has 700 entries again and they all play singles = $28,000. And if half play doubles = $10,000. And if there are 4 sites times 6 days times 1 official and 1 site director = 48 meals. 48 times $7 Subway sandwich/chips/drink = $336. This is probably a bit low, but $400 would probably cover it all. And I know that there is a long list of expenses for running this tournament PLUS they need to make a profit. But $400 is not an unreasonable amount.
ReplyDeleteThere is one tournament here in Texas (not Dallas area) where the tournament directors split a $40,000 profit--and paid for meals at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI think the main problem is that we have too many weak referees that don't have the gonads to stand up to tournament directors.
ReplyDeleteKeep posting stuff like this i really like it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great resource!
